Rate the bank that gave you your home loan. Not on the interest rate, on how they treat you AFTER the money's disbursed

Everyone obsesses over the headline rate and then nobody talks about what it’s like to actually be that bank’s customer for the next 20 years, which is the part that matters more imo.

How fast do they pass on an RBI cut. does your RM pick up after disbursal or vanish. is a prepayment two clicks or three branch visits. is a balance transfer a nightmare.

so let’s build the honest version. drop:

  • bank
  • your rate (so we can sanity check what people are actually getting)
  • one good thing
  • one annoying thing

i’ll go first. SBI, 7.55% (women borrower rate). good: zero prepayment drama, the repo cut reflected without me chasing. bad: anything needing a branch visit is a trip back to 2009, took three visits for one mutation.

  • SBI / PSU bank
  • HDFC
  • ICICI
  • Axis / Kotak
  • an HFC
